The Hotshots Challenge Day was held at the Veneto Club on Sunday where we had over 80 kids come and represent their clubs in social doubles competition. This was the 4th time the event has been held with Veneto, Essendon and Altona winning the first 3 years.
Each club had a team colour and it was great to see all the kids come in their clubs colours for their matches. The Day includes round robin doubles sets, a fitness challenge, a BBQ and lots of prizes.
Orange Ball level was the first round of the day, Epping had the largest turn out so the courts were filled with orange! After 2 hours of great tennis in the sunshine (and rain at times) MCC Glen Iris were the leading the way with the most points.
Green ball players were next up, the round robin doubles sets were played fairly and some matches the kids mixed their pairings and got to know players from other clubs too. It came down to the final few games to determine the winning club, with Epping winning the Green ball competition narrowly.
We had a final presentation to finalise the combined scores and hand out some awards. The combined results gave us a first time club champion of MCC Glen Iris. Congratulations to all of the teams players for their wonderful behaviour and sportsmanship. Thank you to the the Treward Family and Fuga Family for helping out with the BBQ too.
The final results were:
1st – MCC GLEN IRIS
2nd – ESSENDON
3rd – EPPING
4th – ALTONA
