Since February 2019, Andrew Baschetta has been receiving lessons at Vida Tennis Essendon with Nick Opasinov and Ashleigh Richardson.
His goal was to improve his game and give himself the best chance to be selected in the Australian team for the Special Olympic World Games in Abu Dhabi.
In March, his dream came true and off he went is his Green and Gold tracksuit.
Andrew played well in the early rounds against some quality opposition. Eventually he earned his way into the Bronze Medal match in the Men’s Division 5 M06 Singles Event. Where he faced a great competitor from Bermuda. After a tight marathon match he came out on top 6-7 7-6 10-8 to claim the Bronze Medal!
Since coming back in April, Andrew has continued his hard work with lessons each week focusing on his weaknesses and developing his tactical game.
Andrews next big goal is to be selected for the Australian Team for the next Special Olympics World Games to be held in Germany in 2023.
Keep up the great work Andrew, we are all behind you!
