Box Hill Senior Secondary College in conjunction with Vida Tennis invite you to find out more about our academic and specialized tennis academy program for 2020.
We are now taking enrollments for Year 9 and 10 students into the 2020 Tennis Academy Program. If you are looking to combine your academic, tennis and physical development programs within school time, then come along to our open day and find out more.

This is a very unique program offering players the ability to attend a sports specialist school, train during school hours, access to fitness trainers and much more.

About the Tennis Academy Program
The Box Hill Senior Secondary College Tennis Academy was established in 2005 to enable gifted athletes to combine their goals in tennis with a comprehensive and stimulating education. Students who are accepted into the full senior program can choose to manage their workload by completing their VCE over three years. Senior Students complete either a full time (replaces two subjects/electives) or part-time (replaces one subject/electives) tennis program at the college. Student courses can be tailored for US College scholarship eligibility and are designed around the student goals.
The Tennis Academy is run by Vida and students in the tennis program participate in the following: Individualised periodized programming, squad sessions, semi-private sessions, technique development using video analysis, point & match play, weight training and recovery which concentrates on strength conditioning, fitness and agility, activities off court that encourage team building, social skills and initiative, fitness testing which is benchmarked against ITF standards, a physiotherapy screening and monitoring process, a sports psychology program to enhance performance, nutrition program run by qualified dietician, goal setting, tournament supervision and much more.
About the Coaching Team
The Vida Team at the Box Hill Tennis Academy are leaders in the tennis industry. The Director of coaching, Jo Karaitiana, is a Tennis Australia Club Professional, former Pro players and a US College Scholarship holder. In recent years Jo has been working for Tennis Australia in player development and has taken the role as Director of coaching at Box Hill to start in 2019. Her background in Sports Science (Bachelor of Science: Exercise and Sports Science) and past playing & coaching experiences, helps to guide a holistic tennis program.
Jo is joined by Paul Vassallo, the Technical Director. Paul is the only Platinum Talent Development coach in Victoria and has worked with numerous players who have won National titles and gone on to play high-level tennis. He was 2018 TCAV coach of the year and has a real passion for player development.
Kane Dewhurst is the program manager for the academy and combines his on-court knowledge with his planning skills to help structure and guide the program. A former Talent Development coach, Kane is a Master Club Professional, industry educator and leader.
