Frequently Asked Questions
Below is a list of the most common questions we receive. If you have any further questions please email us at info@vidatennis.com.au.
Please wear cool and comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and tennis or flat-sole running shoes. In summer, please wear a hat and sunscreen (there will be some at each venue) and bring a water bottle.
Your child can start tennis from as young as 3 years old in lessons aimed at fast-tracking motor skill development (see our Head Start Program info). Sessions designed for younger students are usually 30 minutes in length.
Each child is different in their motivation to play, their abilities, and their concentration levels. For this reason, we have a number of different programs and time lengths to suit each student.
Whenever a new player comes into the Vida Tennis program, we like to do a FREE intro session so we can get an idea as to their current ability and goals and place them into the most suitable program.

At Vida Tennis we believe the three most important questions are:
- Does the coach know their stuff?
- Can I trust them?
- Do they care about my child?
You can read our article on this topic by clicking here.
Not at all. We are able to loan a racquet for your child’s lesson. But we still encourage the child to have their own racquet so they can play outside of their lessons.
Keep in mind that you need to get the right racquet for your child. Your Vida coach can help you select the correct size, weight, and grip.
Your Vida coach can source a racquet for you and have it ready for your next lesson. Speak with your Vida coach on your first intro session.
Vida Tennis has a number of locations for you to choose from.
Lessons are held each night after school, on weekends, before school, and some weekday mornings. Please remember to sign up for your FREE intro session so a member of the Vida team can contact you to speak about your preferred location, day, and time.

You will see on our registration form an option to select “same time and same day” as last term. You can fill this in and get it back to your Vida coach or let them know you will be continuing before the end of the current term.

Kids learn differently, but one of the most common and best forms of learning is through visual aids. Video analysis gives each player the ability to see themselves play and compare their performance with that of their previous games and/or professional players.
This enables them to understand where they are currently and where they are aiming to progress to. It also builds up a mini library of data on the improvement and changes they make over time.
The role of the parent in a child’s sport in an important one. We have a lot of content to help you understand your role and guide you through the process. Click the following links to learn more:

Vida Tennis will make up sessions missed due to rain and notified absences. We try to make up all lessons during the term or in the school holiday period. You can read all the Make-up details and other terms and conditions by clicking here.
Group and squad sessions are structured according to age and ability, and we try to keep the level and reason for playing of all players similar. We also use our My Vida Journey levels as a guide so that each child’s progression can be planned and monitored.
Please be aware that this may mean brothers and sisters of different ages and abilities may have to come at slightly different times.
The Vida Tennis My Vida Journey programs are designed to show you the pathway from starting tennis to entering into competition tennis. Your coach will guide you along this pathway and give you information, date, and how tos along the way.
No, you don’t need to be a club member to have tennis lessons at any Vida venue. But if you would like to play with your child or have your child play with his friends, then we encourage you to become a member. Yearly membership rates are very cost effective and enable you to play all year round. It also gives you insurance coverage through our member governing body Tennis Victoria.
If you or your child would like to play competition tennis, however, then you are required to become a member. Your Vida Coach can help you with this process.
