Veneto Club Junior Comp – Winter 2018 Update

We have just reached the halfway point of our Eastern Region Sunday competition, and I’m very proud to announce that we have 2 teams that are sitting on top of their ladders. Both of these teams are made up of new players and haven’t been in the same team before.

Our Girls Singles and Doubles Section 4 team is on top of the ladder by over 10 points, with a percentage of over 200%. Heading into the season the girls had not been in the same team before but have gelled together, and have found the recipe for success on the tennis court.

Our other team which sits on top of the ladder is the Open Rubbers 2 team. They always seem to start slow in their doubles matches but finish strong with the team only losing 3 of 14 singles rubbers over this season to date. These results have seen them rise up into the first place with the question now, have they found their winning formula to keep it going for the second half of the season?

Our Boys Section 3 team has been moved up a section since their victory last season and have found themselves in the middle of the pack. They are currently 4 points off 4th place, which is the last spot to qualify for finals. Knowing these boys well, I think they will find their finals form from last season and push for a finals berth.

Last but not least is our Junior Development Green 1 team, who are sitting in 6th place. They are only 6 points separating them and the 4th place team which would also see them qualify for finals. This team has seen some new faces come into the line up with Oliver and Hayden helping to fill in as emergencies.

The second half of the season is sure to provide our teams with some great match play opportunties and some fun times ahead.
